Description Stuart Herbert (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-15 12:51:33 UTC
For your ARCH, please enable all USE flags for:

dev-php/php
dev-php/php-cgi
dev-php/mod_php

and mark all the deps as stable on your arch. When you've finished, please add ~ARCH to the PHP packages.

Best regards,
Stu

Got a list of what needs doing for every particular arch, and what USE flags we should mask if things don't work?
Comment 2 Stuart Herbert (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-15 13:05:09 UTC
Not quite sure I understand what you're after ;-)

The list of DEPs, and the USE flags that need masking if the DEP can't be unmasked, is in the php5-sapi.eclass.

Best regards,
Stu

I'd like a nice table / list / something which doesn't involve stacks of hunting around through a moving target. Easier for one person to figure it out and stick it into the bug than to have several people from each arch team duplicating effort...
Comment 4 Stuart Herbert (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-15 13:20:56 UTC
The list is going to be different for each ARCH, and like you say is going to be a moving target.

Sorry, we've got a lot to do as it is to get PHP 5 rolled out. You're going to have to make your own list.

Best regards,
Stu

Don't know if this is the right bug (not that easy to find a specific matching bug in bugzilla), but some USE flags should really be set as default in php5:

session - enable Session support for PHP as many applications use it
sockets - enable Socket support as many applications use sockets

Ping. How is everyone getting on with this bug?

Best regards,
Stu

PPC is working on it. We have got one bug report from a user unable to emerge php5 (fails during configure stage). #64950

Most ppc developers seem to be running php5 without problems, so it's just a matter of keywording once that remaining bug is closed.
Comment 8 Pieter Van den Abeele (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-24 19:38:39 UTC
Ok, that bug could be considered invalid. We'll work on getting everything in stable on ppc asap.
Comment 9 Pieter Van den Abeele (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-26 07:12:20 UTC
hm, apparently it's not invalid. Could you guys have a look into the bug?

PPC is, beside of php-5.0.1 itself, done.
Comment 14 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-04 13:11:58 UTC
status report: I'm working on this for ppc64.. :-)

The dependencies are now stable on ppc64, but there are some USE flags which I didn't tested (hyperwave-api, mnogosearch etc.). Is this correct? And if not: How can I test them? I've only tested version 5.0.2 and not 5.0.1 as witten in the summary: dev-php/php-5.0.2-r1 ~ppc64 dev-php/mod_php-5.0.2 ~ppc64 dev-php/php-cgi-5.0.2 ~ppc64 Or should I use 5.0.1 instead?

damn.. links2 missed the slumberers... :-/ Markus

Just to add that amd64 has had issues with the IMAP library used by PHP. This library has now been patched and seems to be working well - see bug 70133 and bug 80408. I will be working on stabilising all deps in the coming weeks in order to get 5.0.3 stable once a month has passed assuming no further problems are encountered.
Comment 18 Marcus D. Hanwell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-04-05 09:43:26 UTC
I think I have all but c-client marked, and that will be shortly. Once PHP 5 goes stable on x86 it should be ready on amd64 too.
Comment 19 Jason Wever (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-04-17 14:56:27 UTC
All set on SPARC.
Comment 20 Luca Longinotti (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-20 07:39:06 UTC
Check bugs 60438 and 119461 for updated bugs wrt keywording/stabilizing of dev-lang/php, thanks!
