Hello, This is a bug i found on both Debian unstable and my Gentoo ~amd64 box. Unfortunately, Debian has resolved the issue while I can't find any pointer that Gentoo is aware of the problem. I've provided the link to the debian bug report. But mainly is comes to this: * right mousebutton contextmenu isn't working anymore * open link in new tab (with middle mouse) isn't working anymore Probably some other package than the galeon package is causing this since root@psychotic /home/helios # genlop galeon * net-www/galeon Sat May 29 17:45:49 2004 >>> net-www/galeon-1.3.14a Sun May 30 14:27:12 2004 >>> net-www/galeon-1.3.14a Tue Jun 1 06:15:51 2004 >>> net-www/galeon-1.3.15 Tue Jun 22 17:02:53 2004 >>> net-www/galeon-1.3.15-r1 Mon Jul 5 21:14:22 2004 >>> net-www/galeon-1.3.16 Perhaps mozilla ? root@psychotic /home/helios # genlop mozilla * net-www/mozilla Sat May 29 11:48:59 2004 >>> net-www/mozilla-1.6-r1 Sat May 29 18:29:13 2004 >>> net-www/mozilla-1.6-r1 Tue Jun 22 16:41:56 2004 >>> net-www/mozilla-1.7 Mon Jul 26 21:03:14 2004 >>> net-www/mozilla-1.7-r1 Thu Aug 12 13:00:49 2004 >>> net-www/mozilla-1.7.2 I've noticed it since yesterday so it could be right ... I tried the solution covered in the Debian bugreport, I unmerged and remerged galeon. But unfortunately this did not resolve the issue for me.
Correction, the unmerge; merge solution WORKS, I just forgot to kill a running galeon-bin. Sorry for any confusion. So anyone experiencing these symptoms simply unmerge galeon and remerge it.
Well, this is a cantfix issue, same will happen for epiphany. Basically, mozilla was once more a bit ABI incompatible in between releases, forcing a rebuild of all GRE using packages.
True, but if one knows issues can exist between certain packages why not either display a warning message at the end or automatically recompile the potentially broken packages ? Merge/unmerge is a little detail once you know it. But I think more people will end up with a broken galeon than with a working one. (just my opinion)
