When I bumped this, I added CK_DEFAULT_TIMEOUT=300 which should tell check framework to timeout after 5 minutes. Are tests taking that long on your machine ? I could completely disable timeout but that sounds like a bad idea. Also if you can give a shot at MAKEOPTS=-j1 for unittests if needed. As for the 'qdata->size == sizeof (gint64)' assertions, well, that sounds bad but it seems related to architecture. I guess 1.6.3 did not have this problem though ?

No, individual test runs in a few seconds or tens of seconds. Passing the whole test suite takes ~5 min. BTW, the first test to fail is generic/states, only a few seconds after tests have started. It's noteworthy that this test was also failing with 1.6.3 (more below), so CK_DEFAULT_TIMEOUT=300 isn't necessary the culprit. MAKEOPTS=-j1 didn't help. > As for the 'qdata->size == sizeof (gint64)' assertions, well, that sounds > bad but it seems related to architecture. I guess 1.6.3 did not have this > problem though ? Correct, 1.6.3 didn't have this problem. Only two tests were failing with 1.6.3: generic/states (for the same reason than 1.8.3) and libs/aggregator (that's now passing successfully with 1.8.3). Here's test-suite.log for 1.6.3 for comparison: ============================================================== GStreamer Bad Plug-ins 1.6.3: tests/check/test-suite.log ============================================================== # TOTAL: 40 # PASS: 38 # SKIP: 0 # XFAIL: 0 # FAIL: 2 # XPASS: 0 # ERROR: 0 .. contents:: :depth: 2 FAIL: generic/states ==================== (gst-plugin-scanner:29745): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: cannot register existing ty pe 'GstRtpH265Depay' (gst-plugin-scanner:29745): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion 'resu lt != 0' failed (gst-plugin-scanner:29745): GStreamer-CRITICAL **: gst_element_register: asserti on 'g_type_is_a (type, GST_TYPE_ELEMENT)' failed Running suite(s): states_bad 33%: Checks: 3, Failures: 0, Errors: 2 /var/tmp/portage/media-libs/gst-plugins-bad-1.6.3/work/gst-plugins-bad-1.6.3/tests/check/generic/states.c:154:E:general:test_state_changes_up_seq:0: (after this point) Test timeout expired /var/tmp/portage/media-libs/gst-plugins-bad-1.6.3/work/gst-plugins-bad-1.6.3/tests/check/generic/states.c:189:E:general:test_state_changes_down_seq:0: (after this point) Test timeout expired FAIL generic/states (exit status: 2) FAIL: libs/aggregator ===================== Running suite(s): GstAggregator 92%: Checks: 13, Failures: 1, Errors: 0 /var/tmp/portage/media-libs/gst-plugins-bad-1.6.3/work/gst-plugins-bad-1.6.3/tests/check/libs/aggregator.c:309:F:general:test_flushing_seek:0: Assertion '"No buffer found on aggregator.srcpad -> TIMEOUT" == NULL' failed FAIL libs/aggregator (exit status: 1) Émeric
Sorry this hasn't gotten a fix back then. By now this is a very old version and I can't reproduce this with current versions. Please file a new bug if you still encounter issues.
