It looks like Debian people are still taking care of this tool and maybe we could import their patches ;) https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/pdftk.git/plain/debian/patches/drm_fix https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/pdftk.git/plain/debian/patches/feature_inverted_page_range https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/pdftk.git/plain/debian/patches/fix_compressbug https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/pdftk.git/plain/debian/patches/fix_hyphen_pdftk.1_man https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/pdftk.git/plain/debian/patches/fix_infinite_loop_on_lf_eol https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-maint/pdftk.git/plain/debian/patches/overwrite_more_lc_environ_variables Thanks!
See also https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=562568. This tool does not work anymore.
Problem solved by emerging manually, to force the update of the libgjc reference to the right & latest version.
Looks like that, even with patches from Debian, this tool needs to be revised by upstream devs. I think you should close this defect as duplicate of https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=562568.
These patches got eventually merged upstream, see https://gitlab.com/pdftk-java/pdftk/-/issues/10. Therefore this bug can probably be closed.
