After an ~amd64 @world update (May 8 2016) and reboot, pidgin does no longer dock into the system tray (plasma), even though configured to do so. Also, the libpopup messages (when a new message arrives) have stopped to pop up. When the pidgin "Buddy list" window is closed, the application is terminated instead of kept running iconified in the system tray. Other applications (such as eg. skype and amarok) still dock into the system tray. Pidgin was last updated on March 18th. The current behaviour started May 8th after the @world update. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start pidgin 2. 3. Actual Results: Pidgin runs, but no icon is added to the system tray. When the pidgin window is closed, the application terminates. I was too quick when reporting that the libpopup messages did not pop up anymore. They do in fact work without problem. I have adjusted the summary accordingly, but cannot edit the description.
The same fix that resolved https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=582546 also fixed this issue: Recompile all kio related packages (emerge -1 `qlist -IC kio`) Marking resolved.
