they had posted an 4.3.0 tarball before for testing that was broken, but they didn't post a follow up message to indicate they fixed things. i'll take a look.
yeah, that's a tag in the github repo, but it hasn't shown up in debian's repo, and there isn't an actual release tarball either: http://pkg-shadow.alioth.debian.org/releases/ i'm not keep on using tags out of github since they lack generated autotools. here's the release thread: https://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-shadow-devel/2016-March/010918.html so i'm just going to keep deferring to upstream sorts things out.

i've gotten them to start adding proper release tarballs in GH. the first one is shadow-4.4. will look into this, or get some fixes for 4.4.1.
