This is happening for some time but I am not sure why. If I left my gmail account opened in a tab, chromium starts to eat more and more RAM until I notice my computer running bad and I need to kill it. Looking to the chromium task manager I see that the culprit is always my gmail page (the one listing incoming mails simply). For instance, now it is eating 1,3 GB of RAM alone and it will keep growing if I leave it opened.
