i have same problem and it would be nice if we have a solution: dev-qt/qtwebkit:4 (dev-qt/qtwebkit-4.8.7:4/4::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by dev-qt/qtwebkit:4[-exceptions,abi_x86_32(-)] required by (net-im/skype-4.3.0.37-r6:0/0::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) ^^^^^^^^^^^ (dev-qt/qtwebkit-4.8.7:4/4::gentoo, installed) pulled in by >=dev-qt/qtwebkit-4.5:4[exceptions] required by (app-text/goldendict-9999:0/0::lokal, installed) ^^^^^^^^^^ The following USE changes are necessary to proceed: (see "package.use" in the portage(5) man page for more details) # required by net-im/skype-4.3.0.37-r6::gentoo # required by media-sound/skype-call-recorder-0.8::gentoo # required by @selected # required by @world (argument) >=dev-qt/qtwebkit-4.8.7:4 -exceptions
Same here is there a reason why skype requires it now?
(In reply to mAhdi from comment #3) > Same here is there a reason why skype requires it now? Well yes there is a reason. I would not add it if it was not necessary. https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=546746
Thanks for explanation then I can safely put it into local overlay with the same useflags as before knowing this doesn't affect stable gcc (yet).
Though should not this be better handled to have this conditional for higher gcc only? Why force someone with stable gcc to have unnecessary conflicts?

As the pmaint, I am honestly stumped on this one. Best I can suggest is to make sure the skype USE dependencies properly reflect the situation. * Does r6 *really* need this? * If so, screw you microsoft I don't have enough expertise (yet...) to mess with this.
Just thoughts without conclusions/advises. Look at: # diff skype-4.3.0.37-r5.ebuild skype-4.3.0.37-r6.ebuild 27c27 < dev-qt/qtwebkit:4[abi_x86_32(-)] --- > dev-qt/qtwebkit:4[-exceptions,abi_x86_32(-)] 115,116d114 < elog "If skype is segfaulting for you with gcc-5+ please consider " < elog "instalation of dev-qt/qtwebkit[-exceptions]" I think this was added as a result of investigating some bug report. Skype is binary package, and its downloaded installer (or whatever) is the same in r5 and r6. Since I never saw segfaults on 64-bit Intel CPUs (I still use r5), the situation must be arch/env specific. Just realized: right now Skype is the only thing on my system still using Qt4 (here https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=574464 I took ebuild for app/text/goldendict-9999 with Qt5 support), so maybe I'll rebuild qtwebkit:4[-exceptions] and unmask r6.
Afraid there's an inherent conflict here. If you want to stuff a copy of the ebuild in /usr/local/portage without the USE flag, feel free. I'm too stumped on this one and my first impression is that everything is as it should be.
