Description Bryan 2004-07-14 17:01:42 UTC
When I do the command "emerge --emptytree world" blackdown-jre will not emerge and comes up with this error message:

>>>emerge (22 of 125) dev-java/blackdown-jre-1.4.1 to /
>>>md5 src_uri ;-) j2re-1.4.1-01-linux-i586-gcc3.2.bin
>>>md5 src_uri ;-) j2re-1.4.1-01-linux-i586-gcc2.95.bin
>>>Unpacking source
>>>Unpacking j2re-1.4.1-01-linux-i586-gcc3.2.bin...
tar: j2re1.4.1/man/ja: cannot change ownership to uid 1000, gid 1000: No such file or directory
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
!!!ERROR: dev-jav/blackdown-jre-1.4.1 failed
!!!Function src_unpack, Line 49, Exit code 2
!!!(no error message)

Then it goes right to root and doesn't finish the rest of it.
P.S. It took about 1 hour and 40 minutes to get to this point.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.#emerge info
2.#emerge --emptytree world
3.

this is a bit of a strange problem
i get the same thing with the glibc(/gcc) version from the 2004.1 release, but if i update both to the latest stable one, it untars fine
can you upgrade glibc/gcc first and see if it still gives this error for you? if so reopen this bug with the specific versions please
