I check /var/portage/elog for warnings after doing updates. This should be reserved for important stuff. I could see an ewarn for a few months after removing a feature, but this ewarn has been in vim ebuilds for *OVER TWO YEARS*. No, I am not exaggerating. See... https://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/app-editors/vim/vim-7.4.131.ebuild?hideattic=0&revision=1.1&view=markup dated Mon Dec 16 09:57:57 2013 UTC (2 years ago). Note lines 348+349 348 ewarn "Note that the English word lists are no longer installed by" 349 ewarn "default." After a few months, these messages contribute nothing, and only clutter up /var/portage/elog and waste peoples' time reading about an ancient change. While we're at it, maybe there should be a general policy about how long these ewarns persist in all ebuilds.
