Currently using PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7 python3_4 python3_5 -pypy -python3_3" Layman compiles for 2.7 and 3.4, but dies building for 3.5. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Add python3_5 to PYTHON_TARGETS. 2. Emerge layman. 3. Fail. If there's a meta bug for python 3.5 issues, I didn't see it.

I had the same problem. See Also: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=563542
(In reply to iGentoo from comment #3) > I had the same problem. > See Also: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=563542 Do you think it's a PaX issue, then? It looked more like changing syntax to me, but I don't really know Python.
Thank you for posting this bug report. I've tested the building on a vanilla system, sans hardening which seemed to work fine. I'll test it on a hardened system momentarily and see if I can reproduce. Either way, if it is hardened only then this issue is less of a layman issue, and more of a python3.5 & hardened issue as stated above. I will check it out and report back to confirm.
python-3.5 binary is missing "E" or "m" pax flags: # paxctl-ng -v /var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/python-3.5.1/image/usr/bin/python3.5m /var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/python-3.5.1/image/usr/bin/python3.5m: PT_PAX : -e--- XATTR_PAX : not found The correct one should be: # paxctl-ng -v /var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/python-3.5.1/image/usr/bin/python3.5m /var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/python-3.5.1/image/usr/bin/python3.5m: PT_PAX : -E--- XATTR_PAX : -E--- This happens due to the following line: --- dev-lang/python/python-3.5.1.ebuild +++ dev-lang/python/python-3.5.1.ebuild @@ -175,7 +175,7 @@ src_configure() { src_compile() { # Avoid regenerating these for cross-compiles - touch Include/graminit.h Python/graminit.c Python/importlib.h Python/importlib_external.h || die + #touch Include/graminit.h Python/graminit.c Python/importlib.h Python/importlib_external.h || die cd "${BUILD_DIR}" || die
This seems odd, but manually enabling EMUTRAMP for both binaries worked. I'm guessing it's something in the test code, because all of my other packages have tested and run correctly in Python 3.5 without needing to enable trampolines. Does layman require JIT? I have assigned component Hardened. It fails to install with any python version for me, on x86, x64 and MIPS.
