Please do not attempt to use the Debian patches for wxGTK:3.0 - they don't work well and cause a lot of crashes and display problems. Just have a look at the changes in Audacity between 2.1.1 and git HEAD for an idea of the volume of changes needed to get a working, stable, build for wxGTK 3. Current version source downloads are available from the project website: http://web.audacityteam.org/download/source
OK, then, as a start point we will need to try to get at least 2.1.1 unmasked in the tree :/
