fam/gamin support on gnome-vfs was used to let old nautilus to be kept in sync with files changes by external applications, but gnome-vfs is not being used by nautilus for ages and this is the reason fam support on gnome-vfs has already being dropped in other distributions like Ubuntu or ArchLinux.

I would vote for doing the same :)
