+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #558856 +++ there is confusion whether profiles/eapi is used to version the profiles/update/ directory. PMS seems clear (as Ulm wrote): > As I read https://projects.gentoo.org/pms/5/pms.html#x1-350004.4, the top-level > eapi file applies to the whole profiles directory: > > "The profiles directory may contain an eapi file. This file, if it exists, must > contain a single line with the name of an EAPI. This specifies the EAPI to use > when handling the profiles directory; a package manager must not attempt to use > any repository whose profile directory requires an EAPI it does not support." some people want this explicitly spelled out though
Wording clarified, as discussed in gentoo-pms mailing list: https://gitweb.gentoo.org/proj/pms.git/commit/?id=2d9d1c34ffe348a269817c72e5ea079854a35205
