Description Mark Tomich 2015-08-19 20:23:55 UTC
gnome-base/gnome-control-center won't build against sys-libs/timezone-data-2015f. It seems this is because The Dear Leader decreed Pyongyang to be in a new timezone for which gnome-control-center can't find a png. To reproduce:

emerge -C gnome-base/gnome-control-center
emerge -a1v --nodeps =sys-libs/timezone-data-2015f
emerge -a1v --nodeps gnome-base/gnome-control-center # all versions seem to be affected

NB: if you don't first unmerge gnome-control-center, the message regarding "Failed to load 'backward'" disappears, but the build fails nonetheless.

Relevant error messages:
> (process:29792): datetime-cc-panel-WARNING **: Failed to load 'backward' file: Failed to open file '/usr/share/gnome-control-center/datetime/backward': No such file or directory
> datetime-cc-panel-Message: File 'timezone_8.5.png' missing for zone 'Asia/Pyongyang'

> make[3]: Leaving directory '/var/tmp/portage/gnome-base/gnome-control-center-3.16.2/work/gnome-control-center-3.16.2/panels/datetime'

...a simple workaround is to:

emerge -1 =sys-libs/timezone-data-2015e
emerge -1 gnome-base/gnome-control-center

Ahhh...the perlis of "emerge-webrsync" (from the handbook: "emerge-webrsync ... [installs] a very recent portage snapshot (usually recent up to 24h)"...just not recent enough this time...
