Description Geoff Madden 2015-07-31 16:44:28 UTC
having trouble with opencv-3.0.0 and files not completing. downgraded to opencv-2.4.10,files compile up ok.
I placed an item in /etc/portage/package.mask/opencv. the system resolutly refused to downgrade opencv,so the problem remained. In desperation I transferred all item in package.mask into a file.deleted package.mask renamed file to package.mask. Now portage recognises my package mask.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce: emerge -uaND @world after resync
Actual Results:
some files completed compile some not

Expected Results:
after mods to package.mask files are compiling ok

recognise entries in /etc/portage/package.mask/

Attach your package.mask and package.unmask entries (one file each attachment).

Dont have a package.unmask dir/file
Comment 5 Geoff Madden 2015-08-01 04:35:28 UTC
as stated in my original report,it appears portage is not recognising any entries in the package.mask directory. But will recognise a file named package.mask

I am not sure if folders are allowed for package.mask... anyway, if not valid, probably it could be explained at man portage to prevent this confusions ;)

It works for me. This has been supported for years, and the relevant code hasn't changed recently.
