I think the problem is somewhere in dev-texlive/texlive-fontsrecommended because anything I can find on the web about acrm1000 refered to this package.
does 'kpsewhich special.map' outputs something for you?
if not, please try installing dev-texlive/texlive-genericrecommended

Do you need the new plop.log ? The missfont.log is just the same.
Ho, I just tried to reinstall dev-texlive/texlive-fontsrecommended, just in case, and now everything is working fine. So problem solved.
I've added the dep to tl-fontsrecommended: + 31 Jul 2015; Alexis Ballier <aballier@gentoo.org> + texlive-fontsrecommended-2015.ebuild: + Add dep on dev-texlive/texlive-genericrecommended since it is almost + mandatory to use fonts now, bug #556048 + thanks!
