The file /usr/share/texmf-site/tex/latex/biblatex/biblatex.sty installed by dev-tex/biblatex-3.0 contains the strings ‘DATE’ and ‘VERSION’ where it should have actual values. This prevents biblatex from working properly. See the URL field for details.

I can confirm this bug. With dev-tex/biblatex-3.0 I get an error message for \usepackage[backend=biber,style=ieee]{biblatex} in TexStudio and in Kile

See the attached error log which has been copied from TexStudio.

When I switch back to version 2.9a-r1 it works again without problems.
