Description Till Schäfer 2015-07-02 12:53:09 UTC
Since the new portage plugin sync system is introduced, genlop -r returns each sync twice.

Example:
# genlop -r
     rsync'ed at >>> Tue Jun 16 11:50:56 2015
     rsync'ed at >>> Thu Jun 18 12:30:33 2015
     rsync'ed at >>> Thu Jul 2 14:44:26 2015
     rsync'ed at >>> Thu Jul 2 14:44:26 2015
     rsync'ed at >>> Thu Jul 2 14:45:10 2015
     rsync'ed at >>> Thu Jul 2 14:45:10 2015

Please note, that currenty log entries fpr sync are only generated using emerge --sync and not emaint sync (see Bug 553788)

Reproducible: Always

maybe this is listed twice, because i have synced two different repos?

That seems very possible. What does the following command show?

fgrep '=== Sync completed' /var/log/emerge.log
Comment 3 Till Schäfer 2015-07-08 10:21:03 UTC
here it is (another computer, so I give both outputs again)

maybe a fix for this can be also a fix for this other report: Bug 553792

Looking for some preferences here when specifying the repository in the output:

Which do you prefer?

1. Repository: gentoo synced at >>> Thu Jul 9 03:11:27 2015
2. gentoo synced at >>> Thu Jul 9 03:11:27 2015
3. synced gentoo at >>> Thu Jul 9 03:11:27 2015

I like option 1 personally, but looking for feedback.
Comment 7 Till Schäfer 2015-07-10 01:26:50 UTC
I have no preference for the 3 options here, but i am wondering how it will look if multiple repos are synced? Are they listed in a single row or is there one line per repo? I personally prefer the one liner, because one must not group the outputs visually if one have a lot of repos and the list becomes smaller.

It will be one line per repository. Once I figure out how to fix the argument parsing without breaking the rest of the functionality you will also be able to do 'genlop -r kde' and just show when the kde repo was synced.
Comment 9 Till Schäfer 2016-01-14 16:48:52 UTC
any progress here?

I am fine with option 1 and having one line for each repository.
Comment 10 Andreas K. Hüttel archtester gentoo-dev 2017-01-20 22:38:44 UTC
my vote: option 1 without the ":" :)
