Description Parag Mehta (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-07-24 20:37:28 UTC
I strongly suggest a base install source tar balls and a few more soure tar
balls for the following apps :

apache, php,X,blackbox & windowmaker and its dependency libraries and packages,
postfix, netscape & mozilla.

this will hardly make the install cd iso to a max size of 400mb.

this would really help cause that would save a lot of time downlaoding the
source and remaining on the net till then. this would also help user rsync
once and then probably disconnect form the net if reqd.

my 2cents.

kde too ;)
Comment 2 Doug Goldstein (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-07-25 02:12:33 UTC
Changing the assignment of this over to Verwilst because he is the release
manager, not drobbins. (as per drobbins)

Also I don't really agree with this one. We're a distro that's based about
building everything from source or as much as possible. It would also give our
release manager a lot more unnecessary work.

In Reply to Cardoe's views :

Well the request is just to add the source tar balls & not the binary tar
balls. if required i am ready to take the responsibility of have the required
binary for i686-exclusive made for the release as and when reqd.

let me know.

I think the suggestion in bug #3882 can solve this as well.
