Description Geoffrey King 2004-06-25 14:43:36 UTC
Here's an ebuild for the latest version (2.0.14), I'm new to writing ebuilds so there's no promises it'll work correctly under all configurations and circumstances. I did have some sandbox related issues but they *should* be fixed. Please test.

ebuild for oddcast

please use the correct mime type in the future.
Comment 3 Jeremy Huddleston (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-31 18:23:43 UTC
did you try 'make DESTDIR="${D}" install || die' before resorting to 'einstall || die'? That is the prefered method... also, what about 'dodoc README etc'
Comment 4 Geoffrey King 2004-08-01 10:24:43 UTC
I was just following the instructions given in the comments in /usr/portage/skel.ebuild, given what the comments say there I understood einstall || die to be a shortcut for:

make \
       prefix=${D}/usr \
       mandir=${D}/usr/share/man \
       infodir=${D}/usr/share/info \
       install || die

If you look at the documentation provided in the tarball, it's worthless. Thats why I didn't bother with dodoc.

Sorry about the mime type confusion. Brain fart :)
Comment 5 Chris White (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-01 10:56:12 UTC
Documentation is still very important, no matter how worthless it may seem.
They often contain the basic information for compiling the program and
ways to contact upstream. Therefore that will be needed in the ebuild.

Please update this ebuild based on chriswhite's comments

Version 3.0.3 is out now, and I'd love if it if I could emerge it :)

(this is an automated message based on filtering criteria that matched this bug)

Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild
submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely
manner. There are simply too many new packages.

Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry into the overlay.
So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this and submit your
ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =)

Because this is a mass message, we are also asking you to be patient with us. We anticipate a large number of requests in a short time.

Thanks,
On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team,
Jeremy.

It looks like the oddcast project is dead, so sadly we'll never be able to fix this bug.
