Description Kaoru Nagisa 2015-06-10 14:09:05 UTC
After a resync today, dev-qt/qttranslations-4.8.6-r1 fails to emerge because it can't delete a directory in the temp dir

At the end of the emerge process I receive (see attachments for the full log):
...
rmdir: failed to remove ‘/var/tmp/portage/dev-qt/qttranslations-4.8.6-r1/image///usr/lib64/qt4/pkgconfig’: No such file or directory
ERROR: dev-qt/qttranslations-4.8.6-r1::gentoo failed (install phase):
(no error message)
...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge dev-qt/qttranslations

Actual Results:
ebuild for dev-qt/qttranslations-4.8.6-r1 fails with an error message suggesting that deletion of a directory failed

Expected Results:
ebuild installs successfully

In order to continue the installation, I made a quick and dirty workaround and commented out the offending "|| die" (located in /usr/portage/eclass/qt4-build-multilib.eclass , line 473). With this, I could emerge qttranslations and other qt-related packages.

Can confirm this bug! Same problem here.
Comment 4 ashindeed 2015-06-10 17:18:14 UTC
Can confirm this bug, I have the same issue too
Comment 5 Christopher Griffiths 2015-06-10 18:45:11 UTC
Can also confirm this bug. Exact same problem. By remove "|| die" from line 437 as stated in the comments allowed me to bypass this issue and install qttranslations and other qt ebuilds.

Can also confirm bug
Comment 10 Chris Brown 2015-06-11 03:23:05 UTC
Can confirm, the dirty workaround allows the emerge to complete. i cannot comment on any side effects it may have
Comment 11 Andrei Stroe 2015-06-11 07:45:31 UTC
I also confirm. A cleaner workaround was to add 'if [ -d "${D}/${QT4_LIBDIR}" ] ; then' before and 'fi' after line 473. That way, it doesn't attempt to remove the directory if it doesn't exist, but also stops and reports an error if something really bad happens while trying.
Comment 12 René Fuchs 2015-06-11 12:06:49 UTC
bug still exists in dev-qt/qttranslations-4.8.7
Comment 13 sango 2015-06-11 16:37:53 UTC
Problem caused by changes in eclass/qt4-build-multilib.eclass in revision 1.17. Before this change, instruction for removing pkg-config dir had not been supplied with die operator.
patch for clean solution:
