mate-base/mate-1.10 bump request Reproducible: Always
That would be nice :)
Is the mate overlay still active? If so, I'd expect ebuild to popup in that overlay.

Mate overlay is not active as far as I know. I'll be working on it in the new MATE project's overlay.
Well, someone else is working on his overlay with all MATE packages upgraded to 1.10, but by now, it only uses GTK+ 2.0 since GTK+ 3.0 is still experimental. https://github.com/pantera31752/open-overlay/ If you have something to tell, do it as an issue on his repo.

Good to know, but based on a quick glance, I'm not sure I'm interested in using their ebuilds, and I will continue working on it in the official project. It's my intention to keep 1.10 as GTK+ 2 as well, as complete support isn't slated until 1.12, and I'd rather hold off until then.
1.10 ebuilds are going up as they are completed. If you care to test them before they hit the main repo, you are more than willing to. Any bugs discovered should be filed separately and listed as a blocker for this bug, effectively turning this into a pseudo tracker.

Why there is no atril-1.10* ebuild? I posted one from open-overlay: if I don't go wrong it has gtk+3 use flag, so gtk+3 support is optional. Atril 1.10 introduces epub support: there were no gtk updated gtk+* application with this feature.

As mentioned previously, I do not feel open-overlay's quality is such that I would include their ebuilds without significant review. Significant review meaning it would take the same time to do so as it would for me to do it from scratch. As the project page indicates, I'm lookng for help, so if you are truly interested in helping, you can contact me via IRC or email, and I can train you to handle the builds in the manner that I'd like. I will not make exceptions that reduce quality in order to speed the release along.
@NP-Hardass: Please, can you make the MATE project's overlay available via layman? That would make it easier to test your ebuilds.
Been running MATE 1.10 from open-overlay for a month or so without grave problems. I noticed an issue with mate-power-manager, mate-screensaver which I posted upstream: https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-power-manager/issues/156
http://mate-desktop.org/blog/2015-11-05-mate-1-12-released/
This should be changed to 1.12 already. :) Gtk3 is still optional. It is quite usable, but not complete yet. (In reply to Sven from comment #15) > @NP-Hardass: Please, can you make the MATE project's overlay available via > layman? That would make it easier to test your ebuilds. +1.
@NP-Hardass are you dev-away? Do you need help? Is there a list of the progress on this?
I use Mate full time and would love to help test. I just need a little guidance on getting things set up and going as I've never left the main Gentoo repos before.
Head over to https://github.com/alexandervdm/gentoo-mate This overlay has MATE 1.10 and is almost fully up to date. The last missing bits are descibed here: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=561408

(In reply to Joakim Tjernlund from comment #22) AFAIK, gtk2 is still recommended in MATE 1.12 because gtk3 is not yet "ready".
Please set bug 559654 as a duplicate of this one too.

If you guys could kindly verify that you have no issues with the versions in the official project repo, I can start migration to the main repo soon.
Rebuilt MATE 1.10 from scratch using the official project repo. No issues so far.

No issue for far neither, a lot of corrections from version 1.8 done, it's pretty great to have a better handled dark theme. Thanks for your work.
