Many ebuilds will provide you with usefull information at the end of their install process, i.e. changes that have been made since the last version, steps that must be taken to properly configure the software, commands that might be helpful if problems should arise. The problem is that often these messages are missed due to the fact that installation messages from packages that come next in the build process push them off the screen and even out of the terminal's scrollback buffer. It would be very nice if portage would save all these messages until the entire build process has been completed and then display them at the end so that they can be reviewed by the user.
