Pacho, could you check the machine you're trying to emerge jffi on has sys-libs/glibc-2.20 installed? Thanks.
Comment 2 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2015-04-27 20:53:40 UTC
Yes, it has glibc-2.20-r2 :/
Comment 3 Patrice Clement gentoo-dev 2015-04-27 21:14:51 UTC
More about this error in the following bugzilla from RedHat: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1058258

It's not a jffi bug. A couple of headers have been moved around on the pcc platform and gcc doesn't know where to find them.

Could you list the glibc package content, grep for stubs and stick the output here?

$ equery f sys-libs/glibc | grep stubs
Comment 4 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2015-04-28 21:09:25 UTC
Sure:
# equery f sys-libs/glibc | grep stubs
/usr/include/gnu/stubs-32.h
/usr/include/gnu/stubs.h
/usr/lib/libc_stubs.a

Comment 6 Patrice Clement gentoo-dev 2015-08-30 21:32:47 UTC
Fair enough. Assigning to toolchain then.
Comment 7 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2015-08-31 19:30:55 UTC
glibc is doing the correct thing; jffi is broken. the stub headers you refer to are installed for 64bit builds which a ppc32 userland does not have. the jffi package, for some reason, insists on using -m64 which, even if it did manage to compile, would produce invalid objects for a ppc32 system.
Comment 8 Patrice Clement gentoo-dev 2015-08-31 22:03:31 UTC
OK thank you vapier. I've just realised there's jffi-1.2.8.ebuild which doesn't suffer this stub headers problem and compiles fine on ppc + ppc64. Only problem I'm encountering with it so far is concerning the tests which do not pass so I will file a separate bug for that. We're going to pick this version and call it a day.
Comment 9 Patrice Clement gentoo-dev 2015-08-31 22:30:36 UTC
I will close this bug and delete this ebuild once stabilising 1.2.9 is over.
