Description Ramon de Ruiter 2004-06-21 12:52:52 UTC
Normally when xmms can't find a file, at least with mp3's, it skips the song and moves onto the next. When a .mpc file cannot be found a message appears with the text: "file x not found or is read protected".

The problem is that when none of my mp3's can be reached (i use a NFS mount) xmms keeps scrolling through the list, and i have hundreds or thousanths of these messages popping up when i'm not around to stop or close xmms. These messages leave my machine in a nearly unusable state since all the memory is consumed after a while.

I would like to see the "mp3 way" when a .mpc file is not found: skip to the next file without the message popping up. It's a pretty annoying "feature" when your not always around your machine.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add some .mpc files in a playlist
2. Make sure xmms can't find them
3. Watch the screen fill with "file not found" messages

Actual Results:
memory gets filled after a while making the machine unresponsive.

Expected Results:
Not popup a message every time a file is not found, or maybe do it only once?

Please talk to the developer of the plugin you use for playing .mpc files
