After upgrading to udev-027 the jog dial on my Vaio notebook wasn't accessible any longer. Initially I thought KDE 3.2.3 (from the same update run) was to be blamed, so I filed a bug report at http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83409. But it turned out that including a line in /etc/udev/permissions.d/50-udev.permissions fixed it for me: # Sony Vaio Jogdial sonypi device sonypi:root:root:0666 I'm not sure if this is the right way to go about it, but it works again, I can use the jog dial as a mouse wheel and have regained control over the display brightness etc. I'm running a 2.6.7-rc3-mm1 kernel on a Sony Vaio PCG-R505R/GK, by the way.
Thanks, will be added to the next release of udev (out later today.)
