gst-plugins-ffmpeg:0.10 is incompatible with new libav versions. You can unmerge gst-plugins-ffmpeg (add "media-plugins/gst-plugins-meta:0.10 -ffmpeg" to your package.use to avoid pulling it in) since it's needed for only a very small number of packages - basically wine with USE=gstreamer and a few obsolete media converters/players. gst-plugins-libav is the modern version of gst-plugins-ffmpeg (the names are confusing, in theory both gst plugins ought to support both libav and ffmpeg), however gst-plugins-libav is for gstreamer-1.0 only. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 509326 ***
