Description Piotr Chmura 2015-03-13 20:19:52 UTC
Ivoking jscal-store or jscal-restore script ends up with message:
"Restoring joystick configuration requires udev!"

It looks like udevadm was been moved from /sbin/udevadm to /bin/udevadm in recent udev versions. Changing location of udevadm in scripts fixes problem.

Maybe there should be check for udevadm in both locations for compatibility with older udev versions.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. run jscal-store with recent udev version installed (i've got udev-218).

Actual Results:
"Restoring joystick configuration requires udev!"

Expected Results:
storing/restoring joystick calibration settings

sounds like a missing virtual/udev rdep too
Comment 2 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-05-16 06:04:48 UTC
joystick-1.4.8-r1 should be better. reopen if I messed up the shell code.
Comment 3 Piotr Chmura 2015-05-17 17:08:02 UTC
Doesn't work.

You set UDEV variable, but check/use UDEVADM in both scripts.
Comment 4 Piotr Chmura 2015-05-17 17:38:55 UTC
And you removed "info" parameter from udevadm call in jscal-restore script.

set UDEVADM variable (instead of UDEV) and proper execution in jscal-restore

Added modified patch with fix to 2 previous issues.

Works for me.
Comment 6 Mr. Bones. (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-05-17 19:01:23 UTC
ok, your patch to my patch is in there.

`whereis udevadm` instead of given locations

I recently moved to systemd, which installs udevadm in /usr/bin/

This patch fixes jscal-store and jscal-restore for this case (and hopefully for any future move of udevadm binary).
