Has been fixed in x11 overlay.
Comment 4 Drake Donahue 2015-02-28 17:37:53 UTC
I can confirm the problem exists for ati-drivers-14.12-r3 with kernel 3.19 on ~amd64 on AMD FX(tm)-8150 Processor and A10-6800.
I can confirm that the gdm hack in the overlay solves the problem; however, as the version in the overlay is still 14.12-r3 it was not picked up with a simple emerge -av ati-drivers. I replaced the 14.12-r3 ebuild in portage with the 14.12-r3 ebuild from the overlay, rebuilt the digest and manifest, emerged ati-drivers successfully, rebooted kernel 3.19, ran startx, and write this from gnome.

Is there any plan to get this fix revbumped into a ati-drivers-14.12-r4?
Does this require closing with (WHAT form) of resolution??
Comment 6 Markus Giese 2015-04-03 14:12:34 UTC
still 3.19.3 fails with ati-drivers-14.12-r3

where and how to get the x11 overlay ?

emerge -1av ati-drivers results

current results (after a new sync after the old ebuild and x11 overlay were deleted) "emerge -1av ati-drivers" results are attached showing current problems in the third or fourth update of x11-drivers/ati-drivers-14.12-r3.
the -gdm-hack use flag caused an attempt to remerge of ati-drivers-14.12-r3 which had been edited without a revision number change. as in the attachment this version of the r3 version fails to build.
Comment 8 Thomas Haschka 2015-07-23 13:27:02 UTC
Happens to me since last emerge --sync / kernel update
