Description Martin Pohlack 2004-06-16 04:02:43 UTC
The rights for /var/lock are set in the baselayout ebuild with: "kdir -o root -g uucp -m0755 /var/lock".

So, members of uucp cannot create new lockfiles as they should.

When starting minicom it complains about not being able to create a lockfile.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Just start minicom as a member of uucp, but not as root

the fix is simple, the line in the baselayout ebuild should read: "kdir -o root
-g uucp -m0775 /var/lock" instead of "...-m0755..."

In the meantime you can just "chmod g+w /var/lock".
