It would be great to get this newer version of os-prober stabilized. UEFI support was added in 1.58, our current stable os-prober cannot detect windows installations on UEFI. Thanks!
Hmm, my recent experience was that the current stable version produced invalid entries for Windows with UEFI, whereas 1.62 simply failed to detect them. Not that that's an argument against bumping the version, since arguably doing nothing is better than producing an option that doesn't actually boot.
Oh, though to clarify, my issue may have had more to do with a lack of Windows 8 support.
Hi, I'm currently using os-prober-1.65 with a dual boot of Windows 8.1 and Gentoo in sercure boot mode. The entries generated seem to be just fine, unlike stated in comment:1. Of course one gotta take care of the extra configuration needed to make secure boot work. (have a look here http://www.boerngen-schmidt.de/2015/04/gentoo-and-windows-8-1-secure-boot-setup/) My vote goes to stabilze os-prober-1.65 for the reasons: - It supports Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 detection - Generated entries for GRUB2 are bootable - 1.53 was stabilized 3 years ago and we're IT guys life moves on Have a nice day.
requires input from the proxy maintainer. os-prober-1.65 was only added 29 Mar 2015 and needs to qualify after 30 days.
