Description Jaak Ristioja 2014-12-22 19:49:58 UTC
Version 23.11.10.0 is required for kernels 3.17 and later, which were released quite a while ago. Without it, booting a 3.17+ kernel one has no wireless. ;(

Please bump soon!

Is 23.11.10.0 a higher version than 23.214.9.0 or 25.228.9.0?

I have no idea about their weird versioning scheme.

Anyway iwlwifi-7260-10.ucode does work when embedded in a hardened kernel 3.17.7.

But maybe the reason why it didn't pick up iwlwifi-7260-9.ucode was my own kernel configuration error. I think I might have disabled firmware loading via userspace udev or something.

Anyway, its still a version bump.

I can confirm that the -10 firmware blob works here on a vaio pro 13 with 7260 chipset. I'm also confused at their tarball numbering scheme, but the ucode number and dates show it is the most recent. Oddly enough, the -9 ucode works here with 3.17 kernel.

Yes, that's the latest. Yes it's weird.

See:

Suggestion from Josh Boyer was to read Intel Firmware versions from right to left. I guess this makes updates interesting...meh

FWIW I can confirm the firmware works with 3.18.1 (hardened)

Its upgraded/downgraded/reversed/reslotted to version
sys-firmware/iwl7260-ucode-0.10.11.23:10

Not tested though as I do not have access to this hardware.
