https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:HPPA/Full/Installation#Optional:_Using_systemd https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:Alpha/Full/Installation#Optional:_Using_systemd ... all archs except x86, arm and amd64 shouldn't have that section. (warning: i might be wrong, but i think these are the only 3 archs systemd support) Or the section text should be update with a more appropriate: "Because systemd is wrote with feet with no respect to portability or standard, that crappy thing cannot work on your arch. You are also happy to not been able anymore to use Gnome with your arch because Gnome devs share the same stupid mentality and force systemd as a depenceny on it". I suppose the truth may hurt systemd lovers too much, so removing the section may prevent hordes of fans crying. Yep, better just remove the section ;) Reproducible: Always Question: do you have to edit all wiki parts by hands or is there some automation and wiki parts are autogenerate? Good work on the move doc team.
I will not open another bug, but for those archs, reference to gnome in the installation handbook are now giving us a problem too (for the same reason). But i think handling that will takes more time, a deeper thinking on howto fix that, something to discuss more in your dev-ml than this bug report: As example: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Handbook:HPPA/Full/Installation#Configuring_the_USE_variable "Configuring the USE variable In the USE variable users define keywords which are mapped onto compile-options. For instance, ssl will compile ssl-support in the programs that support it. -X will remove X-server support (note the minus sign in front). gnome gtk -kde -qt4 will compile programs with gnome (and gtk) support, and not with kde (and qt) support, making the system fully tweaked for GNOME." It would not be right to remove someone could use gnome use flag, as mate users may indeed still use it even without Gnome itself. But keeping "making the system fully tweaked for GNOME" is also wrong, as these arch cannot use Gnome anymore. Hence why i think it will be a little more difficult to update the handbook ; like naming MATE instead of GNOME ; even valid telling users about a useflag named "gnome" to handle configuration of MATE or other DE that could have optional use thru that "gnome useflag" may really confuse a new user doing an install because of the name.

I desserve a slap for my poor estimating of portability of systemd i'm glad at least i (randomly) pickup hppa in my example :)
The section on systemd is now only shown when the architecture supports systemd. The *example* USE flag tweaking now has a "if the architecture supports it" snippet added so people who would mistake the example as not being an example hopefully now see that that piece of text is to support the USE information, and not their system configuration. The triggers to show/hide systemd now also make it easier for us to start integrating systemd information in the installation instructions (instead of just having a single block).
