Starting with the 1.58 ebuild, I changed the version number in the name of the ebuild, and removed a few lines in the src_install() function (the dodir ones). I had no problems emerging, and scite works fine.

If you think I made a mistake by removing the dodir calls in the src_install()
function, just take the 1.58 ebuild and change its name, it should work.
