>>> Installing (243 of 248) kde-base/kmail-4.13.0
 * This package will overwrite one or more files that may belong to other
 * packages (see list below). You can use a command such as `portageq
 * owners / <filename>` to identify the installed package that owns a
 * file. If portageq reports that only one package owns a file then do
 * NOT file a bug report. A bug report is only useful if it identifies at
 * least two or more packages that are known to install the same file(s).
 * If a collision occurs and you can not explain where the file came from
 * then you should simply ignore the collision since there is not enough
 * information to determine if a real problem exists. Please do NOT file
 * a bug report at http://bugs.gentoo.org unless you report exactly which
 * two packages install the same file(s). See
 * http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Knowledge_Base:Blockers for tips on how to
 * solve the problem. And once again, please do NOT file a bug report
 * unless you have completely understood the above message.
 *
 * Detected file collision(s):

 * Package 'kde-base/kmail-4.13.0' NOT merged due to file collisions. If
 * necessary, refer to your elog messages for the whole content of the
 * above message.

Comment 3 Nick 2014-04-17 03:56:30 UTC
I confirm this. This is for upstream or gentoo?
Comment 4 Jonathan Vasquez (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2014-04-17 06:11:24 UTC
Confirmed. I'm also getting this with the latest emerge --sync on Gentoo.
Comment 5 Ross Hayward 2014-04-17 09:26:46 UTC
Same here. Adding the following line to make.conf

COLLISION_IGNORE="kdepim-dropbox.png /usr/share/icons/hicolor/*"

got things working in the meantime...

(In reply to Nick from comment #3)
> I confirm this. This is for upstream or gentoo?

Should be an downstream gentoo bug as kde-base/kdepim-common-libs is a gentoo split package.
Comment 7 Pavel Volkov 2014-04-17 13:21:16 UTC
I temporarily added these 4 files to INSTALL_MASK
Comment 8 Robert Cabrera 2014-04-17 15:44:46 UTC
I just got hit with this too on my ~amd64 laptop. Adding the colliding files to COLLISION_IGNORE seems to work as a temporary workaround.
Comment 9 Michael Palimaka (kensington) gentoo-dev 2014-04-17 18:18:22 UTC
It seems this was fixed in the overlay for some time but the updated eclass wasn't moved to the tree with the version bump.

Thanks for testing and reporting this issue, and sorry for the breakage. This should now be fixed in CVS.

+  17 Apr 2014; Michael Palimaka <kensington@gentoo.org> kde4-meta.eclass:
+ Sync with overlay. Remove unused inherit. Switch to git-r3 eclass. Fix file
+ collisions wrt bug #499032 and bug #507860. Add more dep reduction. Cosmetic
+  improvements.

*** Bug 507942 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Comment 11 John Bowler 2014-04-18 00:30:09 UTC
Verified fixed by a simple 'emerge --sync' around 20:00 UCT on April 17.
