Description hephooey 2014-03-23 18:04:47 UTC
There is no HSP profile support in Pulseaudio 5/Bluez 5 combination. In order to use bluetooth headset for telepathy/skype, Bluez 4 must be used. Pulseaudio 5 can be built with Bluez 4. However the current ebuild dictates Bluez 5 when the bluetooth use flag is enable. It would be useful in the near future to have an bluez4 use flag or something similar to enable build with bluez4

bluez-4 support doesn't make much sense as it's going to be removed soon (because cannot be installed in parallel with bluez-5 and it's obsolete and completely unmaintained since first 5.x version was released by upstream)

Pardon my ignorance but this sounds to me that by removing bluez-4 you are basically removing the ability to use a bluetooth-microphone on gentoo...?

I get your point that you would like it to go away since it's unmaintained but don't you think the lack of this feature weighs a lot more than keeping unmaintained software in the tree?
