Same problem on my machine. Rebuilding tasty, mtl or hunit didn't change anything.
Shouldn't this be marked as "Blocker"?
Downgrading to dev-haskell/tasty-0.5.2 and uninstalling dev-haskell/tasty-rerun works for letting the tasty-* packages build, but this is not ideal since tasty-rerun has other consumers in the tree.
I've updated all tasty related packages, should work now. -- btw, what does this bug blocks?
Can confirm this is fixed by upgrading using =dev-haskell/tasty-hunit-0.8.0.1 =dev-haskell/tasty-quickcheck-0.8 This was blocking =dev-vcs/git-annex-5.20140306 for me, but maybe the workaround mentioned by eroen allows to circumvent the problem.

Sorry for introducing such failure, I've tested on a system with haskell-overlay enabled so it used another set of deps that worked fine.

No problem, I totally understand that regarding Git-Annex' long dependency list testing all configurations is not easy. Also, I am happy to help with testing on an overlay-free system.
btw: found another bug regarding git-annex: #504602
