Compile error when emerging =dev-libs/protobuf-2.5.0

dev-libs/protobuf is a dependency of net-misc/mosh - this and =dev-libs/protobuf-2.4.1 both installed fine on my system, after this aborted install of protobuf-2.5.0

+ Revert wrong commit wrt bug #503046
Comment 3 Dennis Schridde 2014-08-26 06:29:54 UTC
Same issue on ia64. Should be removed from KEYWORDS or be patched: Debian already wrote patches for generic atomic operations support (that is the part that is platform specific and missing for ia64, ppc, ppc64), and their patch was accepted upstream for inclusion in v2.6.0.

Comment 4 Dennis Schridde 2014-08-26 07:02:24 UTC
For the version bump to 2.6.0:

protobuf-2.5.0-x32.patch needs to be dropped, as it was included upstream.

SRC_URI changed to: SRC_URI="https://protobuf.googlecode.com/svn/rc/${P}.tar.bz2"

DEPENDS needs to add: DEPENDS=">=sys-devel/gcc-4.7" on all arches except x86, amd64, arm, arm64 and mips.

I confirm that protobuf-2.6.0 builds fine on ia64, and that mosh-1.2.4 compiles against and runs with it – the new combination is thus compatible with mosh_1.2.4a-1ubuntu1 and libprotobuf8_2.5.0-9ubuntu1 on my laptop.

Comment 6 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-04-25 11:55:13 UTC
PPC64 has a working 2.6.1-r3 now.
Comment 7 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2015-05-16 19:19:55 UTC
Looks to be fixed in 2.6.1-r3 for ppc too
