Description Víctor Enríquez 2014-02-17 15:40:27 UTC
If I try to start an emulator instance with gpu acceleration enabled I get:

$ emulator-x86 -avd Nexus7 -gpu on -qemu -m 768 -enable-kvm
emulator: ERROR: Could not load OpenGLES emulation library: libOpenglRender.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
emulator: WARNING: Could not initialize OpenglES emulation, using software renderer.
emulator: emulator window was out of view and was recentered

The file can libOpenglRender.so is found in /opt/android-sdk-update-manager/tools/lib/ , so I created a file in ld.so.conf.d containing this path.
# echo "/opt/android-sdk-update-manager/tools/lib/" >> 06-android-emulator-fix.conf
# ldconfig

And now the gpu acceleration works as expected again. Some info about this issue can be found in the following stackoverflow link.

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11674306/eclipse-android-emulator-wont-launch

I don't know if this is related to the nvidia drivers like said in the previous link or not, but maybe this info can be printed when installing the ebuild.

Thanks for reporting. I'm going to give this a little thought as I'm hesitant to change the global LD_PATH when really only one program needs it. If I do change it I'll do it in /etc/env.d (in the existing android file there). env-update already handles LD_PATH there.
