The change - ${BACKPORTS+http://dev.gentoo.org/~cardoe/distfiles/${P}-${BACKPORTS}.tar.xz}" + ${BACKPORTS:+http://dev.gentoo.org/~cardoe/distfiles/${P}-${BACKPORTS}.tar.xz}" should also go to the -9999 ebuild, otherwise an attempt to download the backports tarball will always be made, even when BACKPORTS= (no backports are available).

Any ideas about the hold up guys? It looks like I am running into a memory leak (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1004048) which upstream claims has been fixed in current releases. Why is gentoo lagging behind other distros for this package? Its been more than 4 months since last release upstream.
