The attached patch worked for me to create a 1.0.0 ebuild based on the -9999 one.

The change

- ${BACKPORTS+http://dev.gentoo.org/~cardoe/distfiles/${P}-${BACKPORTS}.tar.xz}"
+ ${BACKPORTS:+http://dev.gentoo.org/~cardoe/distfiles/${P}-${BACKPORTS}.tar.xz}"

should also go to the -9999 ebuild, otherwise an attempt to download the backports tarball will always be made, even when BACKPORTS= (no backports are available).

A small update - virt-manager-1.0.0 requires >=x11-libs/gtk-3.10
Comment 3 Alexander Tsoy 2014-04-26 23:09:52 UTC
1.0.1 was released on 22 March

virt-manager-1.0.1.ebuild

For spice to work net-misc/spice-gtk[usbredir] is required. Added it and attaching full ebuild for convenience.

Please, c.f. https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=512566#c1 .

Thanks.

PLEASE, can anybody of the virtualization team
provide information about:

. . . Who maintains this package?

. . . What is hindering entrance into ~ portage tree?

I have repeatedly offered my help - but
neither did I get an answer from virtualization@gentoo.org mailing list
nor from Doug (cardoe@gentoo.org) who was formerly caring (Thanks a lot!) for this package.

[ http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/virtualization/index.xml ] :

"Page updated 14 Dec 2009

Summary:
The Gentoo Virtualization Project maintains packages shared between the different virtualization (sub-)projects and provides documentation and tools to the user _to make Gentoo a first choice platform_ as both host and guest system.

I'm sorry to speak out, but:
to me this seems to be pretty much in contrast to multiple key packages not being maintained / updated for many months.

Yours respectfully
Manfred

Dead project? Can I offer my assistance?

Any ideas about the hold up guys? It looks like I am running into a memory leak (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1004048) which upstream claims has been fixed in current releases. Why is gentoo lagging behind other distros for this package? Its been more than 4 months since last release upstream.
