Description J.Manrique 2004-05-04 23:50:25 UTC
Doing emerge sync I get always:
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(342)

My network connection seems to be working fine. So here go more details about this issue.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Become root
2.emerge sync

Actual Results:
# emerge sync

>>> starting rsync with rsync://64.5.62.17/gentoo-portage...

After a while I get:

xfce-extra/xfwm4-themes/files/
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (1832818 bytes read so far)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(342)
>>> retry ...

And this happens 3 times more at different points:

deleting metadata/cache/dev-libs/ace-5.2
rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (1831585 bytes read so far)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(342)
>>> retry ...

And it ends with:

!!! Rsync has not successfully finished. It is recommended that you keep
!!! trying or that you use the 'emerge-webrsync' option if you are unable

Update as always have done.
