Description witcxc 2013-12-18 09:10:16 UTC
!!! Fetched file: GoogleEarthLinux-7.1.1.1888_amd64.deb VERIFY FAILED!
!!! Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size
!!! Got:      46544886
!!! Expected: 46428510

!!! Couldn't download 'GoogleEarthLinux-7.1.1.1888_amd64.deb'. Aborting.
 * Fetch failed for 'sci-geosciences/googleearth-7.1.1.1888', Log file:
 *  '/var/tmp/portage/sci-geosciences/googleearth-7.1.1.1888/temp/build.log'
 * Wrong checksum or file size means that Google silently replaced the distfile with a newer version.
 * Note that Gentoo cannot mirror the distfiles due to license reasons, so we have to follow the bump.
 * Please file a version bump bug on http://bugs.gentoo.org (search existing bugs for googleearth first!).
 * By redigesting the file yourself, you will install a different version than the ebuild says, untested!

This cannot be maintained in the tree without a maintainer (or a proxy-maintainer) that can take care of bumping this often. This should be treecleaned if nobody wants to take it

I temporarily bypassed the bug by modifying the googleearth checksum in "/usr/portage/sci-geosciences/googleearth/Manifest" :
I find the new sha256, sha512 and whirlpool sum by using the command "openssl sha256 /usr/portage/distfiles/GoogleEarthLinux-7.1.1.1888_amd64.deb._checksum_failure_.*"
Then, "mv /usr/portage/distfiles/GoogleEarthLinux-7.1.1.1888_amd64.deb._checksum_failure_.* /usr/portage/distfiles/GoogleEarthLinux-7.1.1.1888_amd64.deb"

I assume this may be an important package for some users (or it is now obsolete in favor of maps.google.com?). In any case, i think we need to ask for help in the mailing lists.

Well, a thread was opened months ago in:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/linux.gentoo.dev/yTsRJq93zpQ

But... it ended up in talking about many other topics :S

The file currently downloaded by googleearth-7.1.1.1888 is actually version 7.1.2.2041.

I did (the equiv of):

 mv googleearth-7.1.1.1888.ebuild googleearth-7.1.2.2041.ebuild && \
 mv files/googleearth-7.1.1.1871-desktopfile.patch files/googleearth-7.1.2.1871-desktopfile.patch \
 ebuild googleearth-7.1.2.2041.ebuild digest

to get a working ebuild for today’s “/current/” source file.

As one can see, the patch should be renamed to be less specific.
