Description Filippos Slavik 2004-04-25 08:28:54 UTC
This ebuild is for the slmodem package but for an rather old version (2.7.10), which is know to work with IBM Thinkpad T30 which are supplied with Intel's internal modem based on the same chip as Smart Link modem .

Newer versions of the driver as 2.7.14 and up do not work with T30 as they dial every number twice.

The 2.7.10 version works perfectly with T30 - except some warning messages in when the module gets loaded by the kernel.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

Pete, can you comment on this?
Comment 4 Peter Johanson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-25 17:30:22 UTC
I'm not able to test 2.4 stuff on my T30 as i've got 2.6 headers and only 2.6 kernels around, sadly.... sorry. (I could test compilation, etc, but functionality i can't. not much better than you can do donnie.. ):
Comment 5 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-25 17:31:47 UTC
Pete, didn't you say you had newer versions working on it at some point though?
Comment 6 Peter Johanson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-04-25 17:36:20 UTC
i had it *almost* working with the alsa-ified version plus the modem daemon from the unsupported 2.9 series tarball. never got it fully working though, just wouldn't jive (and i'm no longer anywhere near dialup, so haven't looked at it)

Since Peter can't use and test, i'll give some additional info:

I'm using slmodem 2.7.10 for 9 months on my T30 (on debian). Since mid April I'm using it on Gentoo as well (I'v switched my T30 to gentoo recently). I'm adding this very comment while connected via slmodem 2.7.10 driver.

Thought I'd add a reference to bug 47947 (version 2.9.6) and bug 50722 (version 2.9.1).

Rightly or wrongly I'm going to mark this a dup of the latest verion.
