This is the second time this happes to me. It seems that after updating piwi, the filters files also get updated and, after emerging the new version, it asks you to run etc-update and so on. If you run etc-update, it says that there are no files to update. I did #find /etc -depth -name ._cfg* and it found 2 files that were the ones causing emerge to ask me for update. So the first problem is that etc-update does not find such files. There is also another small issue with that: emerge says that there are 5 config files that should be updated, when in fact there are only 2. After manually updating the files, emerge shows no more the request of files that need to be updated. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Update piwi from one version to another and have filters modified. Actual Results: etc-update is unable to find the files to be updated and emerge reports incorrectly the number of files to be updated. Expected Results: Obviously, it is expected that emerge reports the correct number of files and that etc-update finds those files. root@blackhat Filters # emerge info Portage 2.0.50-r6 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.3.3, glibc-2.3.3_pre20040207-r0, 2.6.3-gentoo-r2) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.3-gentoo-r2 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 1800+ Gentoo Base System version 1.4.9 Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r3 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=i686 -O5 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /etc/tomcat /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.1/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=i686 -O5 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs buildpkg ccache distcc fixpackages sandbox usersandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/gentoo/ ftp://ftp.caliu.info/pub/gentoo/ http://ftp.snt.utwente.nl/pub/os/linux/gentoo http://ftp.easynet.nl/mirror/gentoo/ http://gentoo.tiscali.nl/gentoo/ http://gentoo.mirror.sdv.fr http://sunsite.cnlab-switch.ch/ftp/mirror/gentoo/ http://gentoo.math.bme.hu http://ftp.belnet.be/mirror/rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo/ http://ftp.lug.ro/gentoo http://gentoo.linux.no/ http://www.die.unipd.it/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo-sources/ http://128.213.5.34/gentoo/ http://ftp.iasi.roedu.net/mirrors/gentoo.org/ http://www.mirror.ac.uk/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ http://gentoo.mirrors.pair.com/ http://mirrors.tds.net/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.de.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow X aalib alsa apm arts avi berkdb bindist bonobo cdr crypt cscope cups curl dga directfb doc dvd dvdr emacs emacs-w3 encode esd ethereal fbcon flash foomaticdb gdbm gif gnome gphoto2 gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml gtksharp imlib ipv6 java jikes jpeg junit kde ldap leim libg++ libwww mad maildir memlimit mikmod mmx motif mozilla mpeg mule mysql nas ncurses nls nocd oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png ppds python qt quicktime readline sdl slang spell sse ssl svga tcltk tcpd tetex tiff truetype usb videos wmf wxwindows x86 xinerama xml xml2 xmms xosd xv zlib"
Can anyone verify whether this one was corrected?
piwi has been removed. Closing until further proof found.
