version 5.0.7-r4 in tree is little bit less then 30days (start from Aug 22), but the change from r3 to r4 is quite minimal (add systemd unit file, bug #479492). also we have bugs with latest stable version 5.0.6-r3 (bug #472588, #481086). so here I'd like to stable version 5.0.7-r4, and there is no open bug. I'm not sure about the policy for minor ARCHs, so please feel free to add them Reproducible: Always

So I noticed this by my autofs update, probably more portage related but it removed /var/run... >>> Messages generated for package net-fs/autofs-5.0.6-r3 by process 11238 on 20130908-222247 EDT: LOG: postrm Directory symlink(s) may need protection: /var/run Searching all installed packages for files installed via above symlink(s)... The above directory symlink(s) are all safe to remove. Removing them now... # qfile /var/run sys-libs/pam (/run) net-fs/autofs (/run) so what gives?
(In reply to Matthew Thode ( prometheanfire ) from comment #4) this is caused by updating from 5.0.6-r3 which previously using "keepdir /var/run" to create that directory, not a bug related to autofs. check bug #332633
