Doesn't work due to unrecognized '-gapless-audio' option Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge kdebase-meta 2. emerge smplayer2 3. login in kdm 4. open dolphin 5. doubleclick video file 6. get an error mplayer2 doesn't recognize '-gapless-audio' option
Can not reproduce with media-video/mplayer2-2.0_p20130428-r1 Tried both enabling and disabling gapless. I think you are using mplayer, not mplayer2. Attach mplayer2 log (Ctrl+M in smplayer2). Also did you try running mplayer2 from terminal with this option?

i tested to exercute a xterm and run mplayer a video file. it works fine. so smplayer2 is defintive the culprit.
ok this REPORT can be close. the problem is solved :) 1. start smplayer2 2. Tools >> Preferences >> General 3. smplayer exercutable >> instead of mplayer change to mplayer2 or 1. cd /usr/bin/ 2. ln -sf /usr/bin/mplayer2 /usr/bin/mplayer
(In reply to tman from comment #4) > ok this REPORT can be close. > > > the problem is solved :) No. > > 1. start smplayer2 > 2. Tools >> Preferences >> General > 3. smplayer exercutable >> instead of mplayer change to mplayer2 > > > or > > 1. cd /usr/bin/ > 2. ln -sf /usr/bin/mplayer2 /usr/bin/mplayer That's just silly considering there are separate packages for smplayer and smplayer2. At least my impression is that's one for each of the mplayers.
No, smplayer2 is for mplayer2 only. It may partly work with mplayer(1), but it is completely unsupported by anyone. Also look at ebuild: it explicitly requires mplayer2, not any of mplayer or mplayer2. smplayer(1) previously supported only mplayer(1), but now it seems to support mplayer2 too.
Please do not mix mplayer/smplayer versions. And please note that smplayer2 seems to be undeveloped now.
I haven't been mixing them. I simply emerged smplayer2 and executed. If it defaults to using mplayer instead of mplayer2 as suggested by comment 4 and the fact that I haven't been fiddling with the configuration in any way, then it's just braindead. I just haven't got around to confirm this.
