libreoffice-4.1 features an experimental sidebar. According to comments on forums, one has to go to "Menu/Tools/Options/LibreOffice/Advanced - Enable experimental Sidebar." (http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/18980/libreoffice-41-sidebar/)

I compiled 4.1.0.4 in portage, and this option does not appear. The Advanced tab is plain gray, there is nothing to check or uncheck.

does it require java enabled? Works in my configuration with java enabled:

emerge -1pv libreoffice

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Thank, I re-emerged with USE=java and it now works.

However i still believe there is a bug. The firdt half of the dialog deals with Java, and the second half with "Optional (unstabilized) options", none of which require java to be actually activated. But when the java USE flag is unset, the dialog is broken and these options do not show.

That feature is not tested at all guys. That is why we called it experimental sidebar.

Anyway not showing the advanced options with -java is bad, so if you want please report the issue about it to bugs.freedesktop.org and add the bug link in here.

It is mostly upstream issue not our packaging bug.
