Description Joan Ibanez 2013-07-18 16:50:36 UTC
Something in net-misc/dhcpcd-6.0.2 changes the hostname from 'my_hostname' to 'my_hostname.localhost.lan' causing X apps to fail to start with a 'No protocol specified.' 'Can't open display: :0' Error.

As reported in these Forum threads:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-7346974.html
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-7346870.html

May this bug be related to bug 477224 ?

Reproducible: Always

AFAICT it's the exact same problem (although you may have found a better description).

Or maybe not. Let's treat them separately for now.

This has been fixed in dhcpcd-6.0.3 which was released today.

This version is in the tree.
