Comment 2 Rafał Mużyło 2013-07-16 15:56:06 UTC
Out of idle curiosity: if you change your C{XX}FLAGS from "-O2 -pipe" to just "-pipe" does it help ?

Cause I've already found one C++ app (unfortunately not one in portage), that fails with 4.8.1 with -O? (that is builds broken), but works if -O? is omitted.
Though the code of that app is a bit funky, so I can't tell if it's a genuine compiler bug or a case of compiler getting more strict.
Comment 3 Rafał Mużyło 2013-07-23 21:29:46 UTC
Ahh, sorry for the noise.
My potential gcc bug notwithstanding, the real problem here is that this is actually a version bump request.
That is maintainer needs to checkout a new tarball - as of now, it's just the latest commit (one dated 2.05.2013) that adds support for gcc 4.8.

Tests failed with gcc 4.7 too
